05.02.2010Gaming licence for RAY’s Internet games
The Government has validated the amendment to the RAY gaming licence that enables RAY to distribute slot machine and casino games on the Internet. RAY’s goal is to launch the Internet gaming selection in August 2010.
– RAY now has an opportunity to launch a national, reliable, and versatile Internet gaming site in the casino branch. The project that was started last year is now moving ahead steadily according to the state’s wishes, says Janne Peräkylä, Executive Director of gaming operations.
Finns currently spend more than 100 million euros on games provided by foreign gaming operators in RAY’s business area. About a half of that money is spent on poker and the other half on other casino and slot machine games.
– We are now proceeding by linking RAY’s strong and traditionally land base gaming with the new Internet gaming into an entity. This way we can offer Finnish consumers a unique casino gaming world, even by international standards.
RAY’s Internet gaming differs from other service providers in that it is a domestic, reliable service controlled by the authorities. In addition, RAY’s games cannot be played on credit and thus the player’s identity, as well as the age requirement of 18 years, is controlled water tightly from the Finnish Population Register Centre.
