Gaming activities support welfare services
Through its gaming activities RAY generates funds to support the work of voluntary health and welfare organizations. Of total revenues, around 92% comes from slot machines, 5% from casino table games and 3% from Grand Casino Helsinki.
RAY’s slot machines and games can be played at about 9 000 locations around Finland operated by RAY’s business partners.

RAY brings in EUR 650 million in 2009 » 11.02.2010
The total revenue of the RAY (Finnish Slot Machine Association) in 2009 was EUR 650.8 million, which was EUR 8.7 million less than in the previous year (- 1.3 %). This drop in revenue was due to the general economic recession, which affected gaming particularly in restaurants and at Grand Casino Helsinki.

The Government has validated the amendment to the RAY gaming licence that enables RAY to distribute slot machine and casino games on the Internet. RAY’s goal is to launch the Internet gaming selection in August 2010.

RAY is increasing the maximum wins on its slot machines. Machines located in business premises, such as shops and kiosks, will have their maximum wins increased from €20 to €50, in bars and clubs the increase will be from €40 to €75 and in RAY’s own arcades from €40–50 to €75–100.

Next year RAY’s Board of Administration is proposing to distribute a total of EUR 302.5 million in funding to 1 004 applicants for 1 893 activities and projects. An important area of focus in 2009 will be voluntary work and peer support provided by non-governmental organisations, with a proposed allocation of EUR 18 million in funding.
