RAY seeks to promote the health and social welfare of people in Finland. It uses gaming profits to support activities and projects undertaken by organisations in the health and social welfare fields.
Each year RAY’s funding enables the organisations to take care of tens of thousands of people from all walks of life.

The total revenue of the RAY (Finnish Slot Machine Association) in 2009 was EUR 650.8 million, which was EUR 8.7 million less than in the previous year (- 1.3 %). This drop in revenue was due to the general economic recession, which affected gaming particularly in restaurants and at Grand Casino Helsinki.

Next year RAY’s Board of Administration is proposing to distribute a total of EUR 302.5 million in funding to 1 004 applicants for 1 893 activities and projects. An important area of focus in 2009 will be voluntary work and peer support provided by non-governmental organisations, with a proposed allocation of EUR 18 million in funding.

The first half of 2008 passed in accordance with the goal of moderate growth set for Finland’s Slot Machine Association (RAY). RAY’s profits in the first half amounted to 198.9 million euros (197.7 million euros in 2007), a total of a 0.6% increase over the corresponding period last year.

Peräkylä will take up his position as Director of Gaming Operations on January 1, 2009. He will become a member of RAY’s Executive Committee on April 1, 2009 on the retirement of the current Director of Gaming Operations, Esko Romppainen.
Finnish Gaming Research Foundation established » 15.05.2008
The Finnish gaming organisations (RAY, Veikkaus Oy, and Fintoto Oy) have established the Finnish Gaming Research Foundation. The foundation will begin its work in autumn, 2008.
RAY’s growth came to a halt » 12.02.2008
In 2007 RAY’s turnover and profit decreased from the previous year. RAY had been growing for decades but this came to a halt and there was a slight downturn. By using undistributed profits from previous years to benefit recipients, however, it will be possible to guarantee a record payout in 2008 to both the organizations supported by RAY and to the state.
